Hogwarts stayed close for about two weeks after the war to renovate as well give people a chance to attend funeral services. The school however did not have a Easter break that year and students stayed back at the school. Minerva McGonagall took over as the Headmistress, whereas Remus Lupin took over as the head of Gryffindor and the transfiguration professor for the remaining year. Horace Slughorn took the position of the Potions professor and head of Slytherin after the death of Severus Snape. Most of the staff have taken leave after the war and haven't confirmed if they would be returning back to their positions or not. A few new members have joined the school staff, most notable was Celestina N. Delacroix who took over the position as the DADA professor. It was announced at the end of the school term (1995-1996) that Hogwarts would have its own newspaper called as the Hogwarts Dispatch which publishes articles written by the students themselves. Students who are willing to be columnists on the paper were encouraged to send over some samples of their writing style to their Head of House before the summer ends. The Editorial board would be announced at the Start of the Term feast.

After the death of Cornelius Fudge the ministry had been in confusion for a long time as to who should take over. Since no unanimous never was selected in the Wizengamot special session, a decision has been made that Amelia Bones would serve as the interim Minister of Magic till the elections take place on September 5, 1996. A couple of new Wizengamot members were also added after the war, most notable among them was Mrs Andromeda Tonks, Jasper Kruger, Priscilla Bower and so on.

After the war, Wizengamot sat together on several trails of the death eaters, each of them questioned under the truth serum and when found guilty of breaking any Wizarding law they were sent to azkaban regardless of who they were.
