Of course living in Brighton by the sea had perks; it was quite common to find the city bustling full of people doing their shopping, visiting the iconic city whether it be for it's involvement in the LGBT community, or for the simple fact it has the famous shopping streets 'The Lanes', where all manners of quirky and odd items could be found. Brighton truly had something for everyone, and Axel couldn't have been happier living there. Now that times were much simpler, there was no dark force out there, none that he was aware of, anyway, he did not feel as compelled to carry his wand with him all the time. Strolling up and down the streets of Brighton in muggle clothes was so liberating to him. He felt like he belonged in both worlds, even if his father didn't entirely agree with him. "Bonjour Marie, can I just 'ave a diet cola to go please?" He asked the middle aged lady behind the counter in his favourite little cafe. She smiled, took his payment and handed him his drink, then they exchanged farewells as he exited the cafe taking a long gulp of it. Marie had been working there since he could last remember, and as he got older she became a more regular face he saw, to the point where during quieter periods he would happily stop and talk to her, giving her false stories about boarding school. That was an issue, having to lie to people he considered to be friends, or regular figures in his life. Still, he knew he couldn't tell her the complete truth, the only person in his life from a muggle family that could know about him was his mother; it was for his own safety, after all.
The sun was absolutely scorching down on the city, most people were complaining about the heat, or trying to find shade where they could. Axel on the other hand, was lapping it up. There was the worry about overheating, but Axel being Axel put that thought to the back of his mind; he was determined to go back to school with his olive tan, and not a pale complexion. He found a nice spot on the beach where he could bury his feet into the sand and allow life to pass him by for a few hours, and of course, being a Ravenclaw, get ahead a bit on term time reading. After five minutes had passed and he realised he was on his own and it was safe to get his books out. Reading up on Muggle Studies always gave him an interesting perspective on how the wizarding world sees the muggle world; to him both worlds were completely normal, and most muggle things were normal and standard, but the fact that things such as rubber ducks and frisbees were so heavily explained baffled him. They were just toys, things to help pass time, but in this book they were being analysed and debated about their true function. At one point he let out a small snort after reading the line 'A frisbee can be a deadly weapon in the wrong hands, causing wounds and a head injury.' Yeah, sure, if it was a lot heavier and sharper, maybe.
Turning the pages as he read them brought on more and more commonplace muggle items; it was becoming ludicrous that this was actual term time reading. That was when he figured he was going to get an easy pass this year, and that he had nothing to worry about with his upcoming exams at the end of the year for this subject. Eventually he put the book away and grabbed his drink again, taking one long gulp of it, then placing it back in his bag, then laying back and pulling his sunglasses over his eyes, taking in the brutal heat and listening to the seagulls squawking, the children playing, and generally, the sounds of an idyllic beach paradise.
Junseo may have graduated a while ago, but somehow it never felt appropriate for him to move out and away from his parents. And while that would be rather surprising to many, he on the other hand would not want it any other way. he may have been a muggle born who was working in the wizarding world, but he was not willing to leave behind his parents, at all. They had doted on him for soo many years and he could not leave them for themselves now. While they weren't in a stage that they could not fend for themselves but it was his way of showing his love to them and for making up to them. They were rather rich, his father is the CEO of the most famous chain of hotels and his mother is a well known Prosecutor/ or a lawyer in the City of London, and being born as their only son made sure that he had nothing to worry about while growing up. But unlike others, his parents have allowed him to pursue his dreams and aspirations without coming down on him to claim his place as their successor to the dfamily's wealth. They were more than understanding when it came to him being a wizard and even when he mentioned that he would take up a job as photographer and columnist in Witch Weekly, a rather odd profession for someone born into the family of Choi. [break] [break] Junseo was alone that day at home, which was not surprising o say the least, as his parents have left for work that day. he decided to head out to one of their cottages in Brighton and spend the time near the sea and may be even get some pictures. The cottage while not used anymore was a place the Choi family used to spend their weekends at times when Junseo was a kid. After he started Hogwarts the place was rarely visited, as he was only present for the vacations and that was the time they would chose to fly back to Daegu to see his grandparents and extended family. The cottage was a place which was quite calming to him and he enjoyed the pleasant tides and the sound of the sea gulls. After dressing up and picking up his camera, Junseo apparated away to the cottage and quickly headed out to the sea-side. That particular day, the climate was perfect in his eyes as he walked his way down the sandy shores. [break] [break] Junseo took out his surf board and decided to enjoy his time on the high tides which were perfect for his rising adrenaline. He did not have the fear of drowning unlike the muggles, as he knew the bubble headed charm very well and can even perform it wordlessly, and add in the fact that he can use magic when it was a life threatening situation. He enjoyed quite some time surfing through the high waves and literally was drowned in the cold water and decided that it was time to step onto the beach and take some pictures. Shaking his head off of excess water, Junseo went into a nearby changing room and picked out a white shirt and shorts to match the beach vibe. [break] [break] As he made his way, through the shore, his eyes fell on a guy who was a few years younger than him but yet seemed to be a bit familiar to him. he wondered who it might be, given that Junseo often interacted with people, muggle and magical alike. Well many a times, he would be spared of the trouble of trying to find about the other person as people end up recognizing him a lot. He would be recognized as the heir to the richest couple in London or as some one whose name would be on the Witch Weekly magazine, either for his articles on fashion, his photographs or he himself being noted for his model like looks. He approached him and spoke in a casual tone "hello there. Enjoying the day?" he didn't care of the person in front of him was a muggle or wizard, Junseo can definitely hold a conversation with ease. That was a bonus of being a muggleborn, he had experienced the life of both worlds and can blend in well.
[attr="class","note"] TAGS : @axel [BREAK] WORD COUNT : 750+ [break] NOTES : And we can assume that hey both think of one another as muggles and continue their convo or come to know about them being wizards mid-way.. due to a slip-up of word or so
It wasn't long before he needed another sip of his drink; seriously misjudging the heat meant he was roasting faster than normal, which in turn would mean his skin would have a tougher time of not burning. Thankfully, his French heritage meant he didn't need to worry too much about sun cream, but he also knew it didn't make him exempt from turning into a lobster on ridiculously hot days. There was a day he remembered vividly, mainly because of the pain, where he stood in a cold shower for a good hour just praying it would take the pain away. Now he had to make a choice, keep his t shirt on a profusely sweat into it, or take it off and risk burning. About three minutes in total had passed before he made the executive decison to take off; there was no point in keeping it on if it was just going to be uncomfortable. He placed his t shirt in his bag before taking another sip of this drink which seemed to be never ending, but it was definitely hitting all the right spots for him, which was when he got approached by someone he didn't quite recognise. Well, he did recognise, but he wasn't sure where from. Perhaps they were local, or he had seen them earlier that day.
He found it a bit odd that someone would just approach him and strike up a conversation about his day; he edged closer to his bag just in case they clocked anything in it, and besides, his wand was in there. If he needed it, he was more than prepared for the backlash of using magic on a muggle if he was going to attack him, or try to steal his stuff. "Yeah, absolutely beautiful out today," He replied cautiously, perhaps coming a bit stand offish. The war had done things to him; he would have before offered a stranger a seat, but he had become less trusting. Sure, he felt pretty safe and happy to stroll around, but he was always on edge to a certain degree when it came to strangers.' In a way he felt a bit bad, he new his tone of voice wasn't the most pleasant, but it was something he couldn't help, not this soon after the big battle. There were things in the world which still didn't feel completely right. Who knew? This guy could be one of the death eater sympathisers that got away. Were there any? He wasn't entirely sure himself. There must have been; there was no way they could have caught all of them, there were way too many. One thing he kept going over and over in his head was the fact he was only allowed to disarm his enemies in the fight. A pretty ridiculous rule, but then again, he wasn't entirely sure he could have killed one. Perhaps if it was life or death he may have been able to muster all the adrenaline he could to, but it would have been a long shot.
"How about you?" He asked, relaxing his position slightly while studying the body language of the other person. He seemed to be quite relaxed, he was probably a muggle. Muggle. Books. Right. With that realisation he closed his bag slowly and subtly without attempting to give off any suspicions about why he had to close it so quickly. There was no way he was going to get outed by some photographer. He could only hope that the guy hadn't snapped him reading the book. Then again, most muggles would just assume he was into folklore from a glance, there was no way anyone would have been able to get close enough to read the words of it properly. "So, did you manage get any good waves today?" He asked, nodding towards the surf board. He had to attempt to make some sort of conversation and be polite about it, he figured.
On hearing the words of the younger one, Junseo had to suppress a smile. if he was not wrong in reading the way he spoke, it sounded as though he was a bit stand-offish ? He had heard that way of speaking a lot of times, given that many people are that way either because they are generally arrogant, or because they were being cautious. He did not believe that it would be the former, considering that they both did not know each other to have any sort of arrogance or dominance over one another. And if that was the case, well he was sure that the other one was in for a surprise given that Junseo was someone whom one would describe as arrogant and brash. but then again he only behaves that way when someone disagrees with him, else he is all smiles and cutesy. [break][break] "It truly is, but could be a bit better though, may be a bit windy" agreed Junseo calmly hoping that his presence had not spiked the kid to become cautious. What or whom did he think of him to be? he was the most go-easy person to be present there and not to mention handsome as well. Now that he thought about it, he had been referencing the younger boy with no name in his head and decided that he better place a name to the face and spoke up "I'm Choi Junseo by the way, you can call me Joon". he dug his surf board into the sand a bit so that it would not fall down and with a curious smile he asked "can I join you? I wouldn't be a bother I swear, it's just that.. I mean it is pretty boring to just sit all by myself". he hoped that his positive and straight forward attitude would make the other guy ease up a bit. After all, here he was practically stating the facts and there was nothing to hide. [break][break] When asked about him, Junseo gave a grin and said "had a good time till now, no work today, unless I end up using the pictures i have taken till now". It was true though, he was not expected to sit at his desk in WW, and the editor could not care less where Junseo was as long as he could get the pictures and articles on time. And given that he loved his job, it was no big deal for him to manage as the columnist and photographer. He only did the job for the happiness it would bring him rather than for the money. He enjoyed writing and he also enjoyed capturing moments in his camera and in his eyes the money was just a bonus. not that he needed it or anything. His eyes did catch the sudden movement the boy made and he wondered just what he had hid in that second, his curiosity taking up front seat in his mind. he had seen that the boy was reading, and at his presence he had closed the book bag. that was the kind of behaviour a wizard would do when in the presence of a muggle, may be the younger kid was a wizard? How would he find it out without putting the stature into jeopardy. After all Joon could be wrong, and the guy could've been hiding some magazines from him. [break][break] When asked about his surfing, Joon nodded his head "it was great today, ended up surfing through some high waves, definitely appreciate the adrenaline rush" as he admitted. may be quidditch was good, but surfing through the water gave him an odd sort of excitement and happiness, while other would call it madness. But to Joon, he loved the whole way of trying to balance himself on the sleek board all the while enjoying. In fact it was better than quidditch, no bludgers chasing him at least. "What have you been up to ? Do you live in here ? as in Brighton, I mean Or just here for the vacation?"asked Joon wanting to know more about the mystery guy. In the end he decided that he himself needed to give out a few details and continued on "I dropped by only for today and I am glad I did, I could've wasted a beautiful day like this sitting in London"
