Site Rules
welcome to AM
Firstly the staff would like to welcome you to Arresto Momentum and would like to state that we are a 2-1-1 rpg (which means a 2 for language and 1 for sexual content and violence. That is, the site is strictly PG-13). We are looking forward to roleplaying with you and seeing what you come up with for your characters, please ensure you read the rules in their entirety to make your stay here with us a pleasant experience for all. Guests may need to register with us, to view everything we have to offer.
We are A CANON ONLY site, which means that all the characters which are going to be made, must be from the families listed in the Site Canon List. NO ORIGINAL FAMILIES OR CHARACTERS ARE ALLOWED. Our canon families list is quite vast and has inclusions of families from different countries as well, and if you feel to add a family to the list, then please drop a message to V.
The word of Administrator is final. If you are told something by the Admin and you don't understand, please ask, we are here to help you with anything you need. And we will not bite.
If you are not a member of staff, you have absolutely no authority over any member. If you find someone breaking the rules of this forum, you are to report it using the "Report Post" button, which is located under the gear icon on every post. Once it is reported, admin can assess the issue and deal accordingly, therefore no member feels like they are being hounded or harassed, as this is a form of CYBER BULLYING and will not be tolerated on AM.
Registration
Please create new accounts for each of your characters and change the forum name to the character's full name before you submit your application for sorting. And we prefer if your username with which you login is nearly identical to your character which would make it easier for others to tag.
Create your characters in the Registration department, using our template provided within the board. You have 1 week to complete your app before it will be deemed as dead and moved to the archives.
We do have a limit on how many characters you can have, which would be 15. And make sure that you maintain the balance between female and male characters, Pureblood, half-blood and muggleborns. We will step forward and remind you if we feel that you favour one type of character over another.
All character types are welcomed, but no Mary sues or Gary sues please.
DO NOT PESTER THE ADMIN TO LOOK AFTER YOUR APPLICATIONS. The Admin has a life outside of the site and lives in a different timezone, so may not be available online at your time. Please do not pester to sort your applications, particularly via outside methods of communication. If forty-eight hours have passed since your application was posted and if none have responded, then you may send a PM to the administrator to remind of it. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a hold for twenty-four hours being placed on said application before it will be sorted.
Character Creation
When your application is accepted, all the information in the application is final. The appearance and personality of a character may change over time, but character and family history are to remain the same. If there is a part of the application which includes the name, age, or character and family history, it is to be brought to Admin V before any changes are made. If it is a large enough change, then Admin has the right to request a new application and the character will be unsorted until the new information is accepted.
This site is strictly a Harry Potter site, so that means no cross-overs. You can base your character on the appearance of a celebrity, but naming your character after a celebrity is prohibited. In order to keep confusion about celebrity claims at bay, please refrain from mentioning movies, television shows, musicians, bands and celebrities.
All character deaths must be discussed with an administrator. Though we know about the plots which take place on the site, it is impossible for the staff to know about every single plot that happens. Most plots do not need direct administration involvement or attention, but there are certain things we simply must know about, as they affect the entire site. These events include character murders, abductions and any new death eater recruitment. We require that any of these major actions be run by the administration before they can be committed on the site.
If you are creating a major Canon character then please drop a PM to Admin V . We insist on this because, there would be some canon information in regards to that character and we would like to inform them to you before you start working on their applications.
A member cannot play two characters' who have a direct relationship familial or interaction wise. This rule is mainly for the main canon families, but sometimes extends to minor canons also. That is to say, you cannot play as both Narcissa and Draco, or Ginny and Ronald or Angelina and Fred. But you may however play cousins and the likes of it. This is to ensure that the canons are played by various people and not between a handful members.
We do not accept characters under the age of 13 years old because we are a PG-13 site.
Do not make characters for the sake of deleting them. Character creation is a part of writing, but no characters deserves the injustice of being created for only one of two threads. For such cases we have NPC characters.
For every member, seven characters are allowed at the start. But after that, they have to prove their activity to create any more new characters. We will not accept your new character unless all of your other characters are active.
For making 8-15 characters, each of your existing characters must have at least 15 posts in ROLE PLAY ONLY posts.
For making 15-20 characters, each of your existing characters must have at least 30 posts in ROLE PLAY ONLY posts.
For making 20-30 characters, each of your existing characters must have at least 50 posts in ROLE PLAY ONLY posts.
Posting Rules
And our word count is 150 whereby all posts much reach this amount because we are intermediate level of role-playing.
We do have templates in our posts but please make sure that they don't have hovers over the actual post text.
All role play posts are to be in third person, past tense. The only exception to this rule is when they send personal messages to other characters.
There is to be no godmodding. This means that you cannot control another character's actions, thoughts, feelings, dialogue, etc. Only the character creator has the right to express his/her characters reply.
And a big no to double posting within the same thread. You must wait until another person has posted before you can post again. If you need to edit your post, you may do so, but keep in mind that you cannot edit your post simply because you don't like a member's character's response.
Now that we are on double posting, don't create a thread between two of your own characters to escape the activity checks. Unless there is another member character's involved we will not allow characters of same member interacting. And if your really think that it would be needed then please note that those posts will not be counted for house points and would be considered as OC posts.
Basic understanding of spelling, grammar and punctuation is expected on this site. We do not require perfect grammar and punctuation, but an understanding of literature is expected.
Please refrain from using chat language while posting like tq,kk, brb,lmao.. These are a STRICT NO.
Each character is to post from their own account, even within the same thread it is required to switch to the correct character to post.
Plot Pages are used to help muse together and better the roleplaying experience. We request that all your character's plotter's be present in a single post which would be created by your member profile account.
Trackers are also there for you, to help keep an eye on where you have posted and when you're due to post.
Activity Check
If you are going to be inactive for any amount of time, please inform us before hand in the absences board. This is to ensure your characters aren't moved into the "inactive" member group and aren't deleted due to any dry spells in your posts.
Any absences that aren't booked may result in just that, you may lose your character if they become inactive and will be put back on the lists for someone else to take that character in the future.
You can lose your character's positions due to inactivity. Those who take on positions of leadership in careers or organisations must be active in these roles. We do not want a headmistress, director of the hospital or a head auror to be inactive, as they are always a major part in the site plot. If you have not made an in-character post with this character in over two weeks, another member has the right to contact Admin V in relation to applying for the position.
Activity checks are held for every 2 months, in order to purge the site of inactive characters. All the characters are requested to post in the activity thread and respond to it by posting the number of IC posts the character has made in the past 2 months. Who have not posted in the thread will be receiving a personal message and they will be on the "inactive" group for the next month. Those members on the list will not be allowed to create new characters till they have reached the desired number of posts. They will be removed from the list if they are seen to be posting by the next activity check.
Lastly,
HAVE FUN, keep everything warm and lighthearted and if you should experience any foul play or abuse of any sort from a member or a member of staff. Please direct all personal issues to Admin V . Conflicts between characters have to be planned and are to stay between characters. Any conflicts between players, or out of character (OOC) are to be resolved peacefully.
